楽天・茂木に外野手兼任プランが浮上した。２２日の日本ハム戦に向けて、本拠地で全体練習を行い、遊撃手のレギュラーは打撃練習の合間に外野ノックを受けた。平石監督代行は「不測の事態に備える意味もある。いろいろなポジションができた方が、本人にとってもいい」と、意図を説明した。
