サーフィン競技用の人工波施設「ウェーブプール」を建設する計画が木更津市で浮上し、２４日、住民説明会が非公開で行われた。開業は２０２０年の東京五輪の開幕直前を予定。完成すれば本格的なサーフィン競技ができるため、プロサーファーの世界大会などを開催するという。
