新型ジムニーは、副変速機によって2WD（FR）と4WDを切り替えるパートタイム4WDだ。そのためセンターデフは必要ないが、前後のディファレンシャルには差動を制限する機構が必要だ。しかし、新型ジムニーには、フロントデフもリアデフもLSDの設定はない
