テニスのウィンブルドン選手権第８日は９日、ロンドン郊外のオールイングランド・クラブで男子シングルス４回戦が行われ、世界ランキング２８位で第２４シードの錦織圭（２８＝日清食品）が同１３８位のエルネスツ・ガルビス（２９＝ラトビア）に４―６、７―６、７―６、６―１で勝利。日本男子では９５年の松岡修造以来となる同大会８強入りを果たした。
