名作の呼び声が高い映画「麻雀放浪記」が、斎藤工（３７）主演で３５年ぶりに再映画化される。生涯のベスト１というほど前作を愛する斎藤が、１０年ほど前から原作の阿佐田哲也氏サイドにアプローチし続けた念願の企画で、タイトルは「麻雀放浪記２０２０」。主人公の坊や哲が戦後から２０２０年にタイムスリップする大胆な新解釈で、人工知能と激闘を繰り広げる。
