財務省は、２０１９年１０月の消費税率１０％への引き上げ時に導入する軽減税率を巡り、店内に客用の机や椅子を置くコンビニやスーパーなど小売店の対応基準を明確化した。「飲食禁止」を明示し、実際に客が店内で飲食しないことを条件に、店内で販売する全ての飲食料品（酒類除く）に８％の軽減税率を適用する。
