太陽系の外にある惑星(系外惑星)の発見を目指して開発された「ケプラー宇宙望遠鏡」は、2000個以上の系外惑星を発見するなど、目標を大きく上回る成果をあげました。そのケプラー宇宙望遠鏡へ最後のコマンド「Goodnight(おやすみ)」が送信され、9年間続いた運用が完全に終了することになりました。
