米ワシントン州シアトルの病院でこのほど、１０代の女性が脳腫瘍（しゅのう）の摘出手術を受けた際、医師に頼まれて歌を歌う出来事があった。音楽を生み出したり解釈したりする脳の部位を特定し、手術で避けるのが目的だった。
