巨人・菅野智之投手（２９）が、来季から背番号「１８」をつけることが決まった。原辰徳監督（６０）が現在の「１９」からの変更を打診し、快諾を得たことを２５日、明かした。２年連続で沢村賞獲得のエースがプロ７年目を迎える来季、文字通り「エースナンバー」を背負う。さらに指揮官は菅野を１２球団最速で来季の開幕投手に指名。２年連続５度目の大役となる。
